释义	杖林 zhàng lín梵語泄瑟知林的義譯。據唐玄奘《大唐西域記·佛陀伐那山及杖林》載:﹝泄瑟知林﹞林竹修勁，被山彌谷。其先有婆羅門，聞釋迦佛身長丈六，常懷疑惑，未之信也。乃以丈六竹杖，欲量佛身，恆於杖端出過丈六，如是增高，莫能窮實。遂投杖而去，因植根焉。後即成林，稱泄瑟知林，即杖林。
