释义	中美地峽 zhōng měi dì xiá由北美洲延伸而来的落矶山脉，经墨西哥高原续向东南伸展，构成狭窄的中美地峡。包括瓜地马拉、宏都拉斯、萨尔瓦多、尼加拉瓜、哥斯大黎加、巴拿马和贝里斯七国。为联络北美和南美两大陆间的陆上孔道，又有运河为大西洋、太平洋两大洋间的海上捷径。现由美国控制的巴拿马运河区，将于西元二○○○年交还给巴拿马政府，愈增加本地峡的重要性。
